A group of training staff from ACT Training delivered £1,000 for charity by hosting a summer party fundraiser.

The funds were split between two Welsh charities: Cancer Research Wales and Llamau.

The fundraiser took part at Tiger Tiger bar in Cardiff and money was raised by ticket sales, a raffle and fun team-building games on the night.

Navvab Vaughan, ACT’s Providing Financial Services Assessor and a key organiser of the event said: “I really wanted to get involved when I heard that Cancer Research Wales was one of our chosen charities as I lost my Mother-in-Law to Cancer last January- this really inspired me to get involved. I was really pleased with the amount of money we raised and I am delighted that is going to two fantastic causes.”

Cancer Research Wales Fundraising Manager Laura Priddle said: “We were delighted to be chosen as ACT’s Charity of the Year and truly appreciate the hard work that Navvab and the rest of the team put in to organising the summer party. All proceeds from the event given to Cancer Research Wales will go towards helping to find a cure for this terrible disease that affects one in three people in Wales.”

Llamau’s Chief Executive, Frances Beecher, said: “We were also delighted to be chosen as one of ACT’s charitable causes for this fantastic event.  All the money raised for Llamau will go directly to support vulnerable young people and women across Wales who experience homelessness and abuse, to enable them to reach their potential.  We are very grateful to Andrew Cooksley and his brilliant team for their ongoing support.”

ACT’s Managing Director Andrew Cooksley said: “ACT is a socially responsible company – we want a positive relationship within the society we operate in to try to help others at every opportunity. Our summer party is just one example of how we go about doing this. It was a great chance for us all to have get together, have fun and raise money for charity at the same time.”
