An Apprentice at Wessex Garages in Cardiff will soon be appearing in some new marketing material for Wales’ leading training provider due to his dedication and hard work.

Rezwan Gafur, who is 17-years-old from Grangetown, is a Parts Apprentice at the dealership on Hadfield Road and will act as one of the role models for ACT Training in South Wales.

Tony McAuliffe, Parts Manager at Wessex Garages on Hadfield Road, said: “We’re ecstatic that ACT Training has decided to use Rezwan in their new marketing material. He deserves some recognition after all his hard work.

“The picture of Rezwan will be used in leaflets, flyers, pull-up banners and on the ACT website. The training provider is also going to video him. Rezwan is currently in his first year of working towards a customer service qualification via us and ACT Training.

“During his first nine months working within the Parts Department at our Nissan dealership, Rezwan has shown great skills in customer service and knowledge of the IT systems required to ensure accurate identification of vehicle parts and accessory requirements for both internal and external customers.

“He has a friendly manner and is a well-respected team member showing great prospects for the future. As a company we believe in giving opportunities to young and enthusiastic people with the aim of developing them towards a great career within the motor trade environment.”

ACT was established in 1988 and has since become Wales’ leading training provider. Its vision is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by providing outstanding learning opportunities. ACT delivers fully funded work-based qualifications for learners aged 14 upwards on a range of subjects and career areas.

Jayne McGill-Harris, Marketing and PR Manager at ACT Training, explained: “I chose Rezwan to feature on our materials because he really made the most of this opportunity to boost his career prospects and is a perfect example of how our Traineeship work based learning programme is designed to work.

Rezwan came to ACT in August last year and signed up to our Motor Vehicle Traineeship as the motor trade is an industry that he was clearly passionate about working in. Our Opportunities Advisor, Helen Healy found him a work placement at Wessex Garages to help him build confidence and skills in this sector.

“Tony was so impressed with Rezwan that he decided to keep him on as an Apprentice when his placement came to an end.

Rezwan is an inspiration to other young people. Although he is only 17, he is learning on the job, achieving nationally recognised qualifications, earning and wage and building a rewarding career.”

Wessex Garages is a privately owned company that has outlets in Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester and Newport. It specialises in new and used car sales across South Wales and the South West.
